General Questions

Does your studio provide videography services? +

No. We currently focus our expertise on photography for our clients but are happy to recommend our favourite videographers to work with.

Do you do destination weddings? +

Yes. We are privileged to capture weddings and events around the world and are always happy to travel.

Do you provide partial day coverage? +

Each of our packages include a base amount of hours with the option to purchase additional hours to suit your event or wedding.

Do you capture Baptisms, Bah Mitzvahs, or Corporate Events? +

Yes. We are happy to share specific gallery examples if you have a unqiue request and would like to see similar work we have captured.

Our Process

Do we get two photographers? +

We work side by side to capture your photography, meaning we work collaboratively and efficiently to ensure every moment is captured. For every session we pride ourselves in being able to both capture your special moments to the equal degree of quality and professionalism. At weddings this means being able to capture two locations separately prior to the ceremony, at family sessions this means capturing portraits of each family member along with candid moments throughout the session.

What gear do you prefer to use? +

We use a variety of gear including: our Canon 5D Mark iii cameras, our film camera (Pentax 645N), our go to lense (Sigma 50mm 1.4 DG HSM), our perfect macro lense (Canon EF 100mm 2.8 L Macro IS USM), two lenses for capturing our candid documentary style (Canon EF 85mm 1.2 L II, and a Canon EF 70-200mm F 2.8L IS II) and our wide angle lense for landscape and interior settings (Canon EF 24-70mm F 2.8 L II USM). All of our editing is done in our studio on our two iMacs (Retina 5K, 27-inch).

My venue is very dark. How does your studio handle these situations and can I see samples? +

We have a variety of lighting setups that we bring with us to accommodate any lighting situation that may present itself at your event.

What is the length of a session? +

A session is not timed, but rather we end the session once we feel we have enough photos captured as well as fulfilled your shot list. Usually a family session of your size lasts anywhere between 1-2 hours. We have found sessions lasting over 1.5 hours are taxing on the little ones.

What if it is bad weather on the day of our scheduled shoot? +

If weather or an act of god prohibits our shoot, we will reschedule accordingly. This does not apply for scheduled events or weddings, in this case we will work around the weather and capture all photos indoors.

Weddings

How many hours do you suggest we set aside for wedding day photos? +

With every wedding we work with our clients to develop the ideal timeline considering lighting, travel times between locations and any other logistics. The minimum amount of time to set aside is half an hour, however an hour is the ideal time frame and typically takes place during the cocktail hour.

I have downtime between events on my wedding day. Will I be charged for that downtime? +

For a variety of reasons, we have to charge for the time in between events. The fact is, we’re never truly resting during the day, whether we’re backing up images, setting up for the second venue, traveling to the second location, taking venue shots, or making up for lost photo time because of unforeseen wedding day delays. In many cases, we use that “downtime” to take you and your significant other out for a photo session or more family portraits.

What happens if we go over the contracted amount of time? +

We understand that not everything goes as planned during a wedding. We never pack up before the contracted time, and moreover, we’re not leaving on the dot when the contracted time is up. Instead, we will ask you at the end of your contracted time whether or not you would like to extend. If you would like us to stay, we will charge the rates specified in your contract rounded to the closest 30-minute increments.

Why do we need to charge for additional coverage? +

We have dedicated the entire day to your wedding, so we won’t be racing off to catch other plans that evening. However, we need to charge for additional coverage primarily because there are costs of having the team stay for additional hours. The shooters and lighting assistants all require additional compensation. Furthermore, the additional photos taken will need to be post-produced which adds to our overall costs.
